SPONTANY
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
Spontany ("we", "us") is a mobile app that helps you discover nightlife — venues, events, and people going out around you. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what control you have over it.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address, and (for Google) profile photo. Apple lets you hide your real email; we then receive a private relay address.
- Location. With your permission, your device's precise location while you use the app — to show nearby venues, events, and (if you choose to be visible) your position to other users. We do not collect location in the background.
- Calendar availability. With your permission, the app reads your device calendar locally to show whether you're free tonight. Calendar event contents stay on your device.
- Content you create. Profile photos, chat messages, voice notes, videos, and other content you share in the app.
- Usage and device data. Screens viewed, features used, app version, device model and OS — used to improve the product. Crash reports and performance data (which may include screen recordings of affected sessions) help us fix bugs.
- Purchase status. If you subscribe to Spontany Premium, we receive your subscription status from the app stores. We never see your payment details.
How we use it
- To operate the app: show the live map, connect you with people, deliver messages and notifications.
- To personalize recommendations of venues and events.
- To keep the community safe: enforcing our rules, handling reports, and preventing abuse.
- To improve Spontany through aggregate usage analytics and crash diagnostics.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that run Spontany's infrastructure, bound to process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, storage), Sentry (crash reporting), RevenueCat (subscription management), Expo (push notifications), Mapbox (maps), and Google/Apple (sign-in). Other users see only what you choose to share — your profile, your visibility on the map, and messages you send.
Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete Account. This erases your profile, connections, messages, media, and activity. You can also request deletion at spontanyapp.com/delete-account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, stored with access controls, and protected by row-level security so users can only reach their own data.
Age
Spontany is for adults. The app is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
